Hi everyone,

I recently bought a lightly damaged MG5 Exclusive with a Cat S rating. The slam panel is cracked, and I’m planning to replace it myself. However, I’m running into an issue with the high voltage wiring that runs through the top of the slam panel. I’m not sure how to disconnect the two wires that don’t have plugs without taking apart the charging unit.

Has anyone dealt with this before or could offer advice on how to proceed?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Never done this on an MG5 but it would be unusual for the HV cables to be permanently attached to the charge port, there must be a way to disconnect them up front.

I can definitely disconnect them by opening the charging unit but can I open it? Is it glued?
They sell this hv wires and they look that :

Can I take this panel off?

Great find, @Alb do you have the same information for the charge port side?

Hi,
I had just done the same job but now my car won’t fast charge and keeps throwing back a fault on the time out. I’ve tried multiple fast chargers so am assuming it must be something I’ve done. The one thing I forgot to photograph was the orientation of the positive and negative cables inside the PDU. Are you able to confirm this for me and whether you had any similar problems after completing the job?
Thanks in advance.
