Hills starts

So far so good, not going for the gear stick quite so much and getting used to the regen thing, it’s just the stopping and starting on a steep hill that I’m nervous about lol, will having it in auto hold be enough!!

try on flat ground, then on a slight slope and then on a steeper bit. exactly the same.

Do you have One Pedal Drive????
Try that if you do
No, the zs doesn’t have that so I’m just trying to muster up the confidence that auto hold will do the job on a steep hill instead. Nobody seems to have replied saying otherwise so I’m guessing it will be okay.

even without it, the transition from foot on brake to foot on accelerator shouldn't be a problem. You don't have to let a clutch out, which is when you roll back on a manual.

Our MG4 creeps forward as soon as foot come off brake, even without OPD,
I think you should find a steep hill where/when there's no traffic and test it out, before you get to busy traffic lights. I'm sure it will be fine, and will give you the confidence to drive in traffic.

I was driving down a twisty narrow country road with a passenger when I had to slow to a crawl for a tight bend followed by a very steep hill, I'm guessing 1 in 3. My MG4 stopped and wouldn't budge. I found that if I used the handbrake, wait few seconds then floor it the car would move 25 feet up the hill then stop. Doing this twice more got me to the top of the (fortunately) short hill.

Hi Pam. Auto hold is amazing as others have said. It will hold you on a very steep hill in my experience. I use it all the time with few exceptions. Just bear in mind that when activated & when stationary at a junction or in heavy traffic, auto hold only keeps you stationary for 5 minutes. After that the parking break automatically is applied. This means of course you must re-engage Drive to move off. It's worth knowing that when auto hold is engaged your brake lights are on. In dark wet conditions this may dazzle other drivers behind.

Auto hold is great but I take it off to maneuver slowly into and out of the garage
