I know what I said... And that statement is correct... as I did say NEW plates if you want to be a pedant I can go all day lol.

A dealer should never need to put new plates (i.e. get them made up) onto a used car. In the event of a private plate, they should have the original plates to put back on.

I did say "should"... I am an owner of a cherished plate and yet somehow I always manage to put the original plates back on the car when I sell it... there will always be an edge case but it shouldn't be that way.

I've always let the dealer sort that out so I didn't know you could ?
