??How to fit Fog Lights and NOW WIRED UP !!! ??

A well written install, brilliant.
Very detailed with pictures to boot !.
Low wattage side light ? lamps ?.
No requirement for a relay ?.
I think it looks much better with the lamps fitted in the bumper.
I think the ZS EV was screaming for the same mod to be honest.

No I don’t have a static caravan

Just looking back on what I’ve done
I would say it would take about 4 to 5 hours for the full install that’s from taking the bumper off to wiring the lights up (and about £160 in costs with the lights, bulbs ,relay and wiring )
Maybe a little less time without tea breaks ???

I watch some accident repair channels on YouTube and it's amazing how easily they take cars apart. I don't think I have that level of competency to put it back together again though!

Refitting the bumper is the complete reversal of removing it
My father always said if I know how to use a spanner and a screwdriver anything is possible
Nowadays it’s a lot easier to take photos of the removal process so you know how it goes back together
Also you don’t end up with screw’s nuts and bolts and clips left over
???

Bumper removed
1 Zip tie the charging point door shut

2 remove the two screws from the rear of the grille insert
3 un clip the chrome piece first and remove it from the front of the bumper
4 un clip the grille and remove from rear of bumper

5 clip in the black cover from the rear of the bumper
6 clip in the chrome piece from the front of the bumper and insert the two screws remove earlier

6 as you can see from the photos below there are no fixing points for the fog lights
I used small self tapping screws for the top fixings
And small nuts and bolts for the lower ( I un clipped and removed the small black plastic piece to gain access for the nuts and bolts)

7 Refit the bumper

Well Ian MG5 from Barnsley, Im a little bit late to the party here only came across this thread to night don’t know how but I did, and what a fine job you have done if I had kept my Mk1 5 i would have had this mod done as well looks very good indeed in the past here on this forum many have moaned how poor the lights where on the 5 converting to illegal LED lamps and fitting more power full halogen bulbs which do not appear to last very long by some but this mod could help no end I’m a thinking, me personally found the standard lights fine but now that I have the MG5 Trophy and the wife has a MG4 both of which come with LEDs as standard I must admit I can see the difference but your mod could make a big difference to the MK1 5 and be leagal also well done.

I did the mod more for the looks than function
They just have some small led bulbs in and wired to the dip beam
I went down the route of changing the headlight bulbs to night breakers when I got the car which seem a lot better than the oem ones
But as I say more for looks
I think it just makes the front of the car a little better

If they are Fog lights ( defined by position not beam pattern) they should be wired using a relay from the side lights. The earth of the coil is then connected to the high beam power line.

When turned on the coil will ground through the headlamp filaments but if main beam turns on the coil then has power on both sides and deactivate automatically as is required.

Only come across this thread now & really love the look with the new lights, I might well do this as this is an old thread any updates since you did this? Also any tips on the wiring, like what relay to get & where to wire in?
