HV Battery Heating

The manual shows a HV Battery Heater. Unsure the function of this....does it heat the battery when driving? Does it heat the battery when charging? Both can be helpful....for mileage and charging when cold.

Pardon my speculation, I think when driving battery will heat itself as it charges and discharges. Below freezing temperatures, the battery may not generate enough current to run the electrical motor and may need to heat itself, hence the HV heater. This must be a special heater which heats the battery coolant instantly with very little current from HV battery system.
