I recently faced a situation where when I started my MG ZS EV Gen 1 2021, it would not switch over into the Ready State and was also showing the Red battery and also the Yellow Battery Malfunction lights (see pic attached).
Thankfully, the 12V battery (although showing less than half of the total charge) was still working and the gear switch was working so I was able to put the vehicle in Neutral and disengage the Electronic handbrake.
I took the car (carrier service hired) to the MG Dealership and they checked the 12V battery which needed to be replaced. Even after they replaced the 12V battery, the malfunction lights would not go away and the car would not go into ready state. Then they plugged on the computer and logged onto the main server and resolved the malfunction.
From this experience I have gathered that due to the failing of the 12V battery, the BMS of the HV Battery probably went into a kind of "Self-Protection" mode which could not have been resolved at home by replacing the 12V battery..it needed the connection with their official and exclusive servers etc.
I'm sharing this because I want others to benefit from this experience of mine.
