So, I have had my MG4 trophy for 5 months now, and overall its good. I had the boot rattle, and with tape around the lock stay solved that.

But, I have always had some kind of vibration/rattle on rough roads coming front the passenger side of the car. I have adjusted the sun visors, I have adjusted the rear view mirror , I have touched the central screen to see if its there, I have put padding and tape around the airvents, but its still there somewhere.

It goes away when the car is warm and been in the sun.

Is it worth looking more around the vents under the glovebox? Removing the panel in the footwell and having a look around?

Any other thoughts appreciated?

It will probably be the air vents under the glovebox, I had a similar annoying passenger side rattle. I stuck some self adhesive draught excluder round the ends of the vent outlets, and the rattle was completely gone. Good luck.

Hi, So, I am on a mission, I have taken the cover off in the footwell, I have put felt against the A pillar, and dash to windscreen, and I am still getting the vibration

Its interesting there is padding on the back of the cover under the passenger area

I am starting to think my only option is going to the dealer

Any other thoughts/experiences in that area?

No, good idea, but not touched that area - its defnitely more prominent with the cover off in the footwell, I am guessing with the cover back on, it will be harder to hear - don't you just hate rattles

It's believed that you need felt around the air vents themselves where they contact with the holes in the dash.

Exactly, there are 3 vent holes, approximately 3-4cm square under the glovebox, they need foam round the outside of each vent where it goes through the panel.

I've got the same issue, so hopefully someone here will solve it for us!

In my case I've stuck soundproofing foam on the backs of the footwellcovers round tbe airvents, which eliminated some of the rattles / vibrations, and on the back of the glovebox, which didn't. It's not the sunglasses holder.

I haven't noticed it going away when the car gets warm.

I get the impression it may occur more often when the front passenger seat is occupied.

It's worst when both nearside wheels go over bumps / potholes together.

The car is 9 months old, and this noise has been there from new. It happens more frequently on our local roads than when away from home, but that's because they're in such bad repair.

I did the vents already, in my case it's a different source, somewhere on the nearside, possibly the central pillar area or further forward.

Why the font colour change?
Sorry, don't know how that happened.

Fixed now! (the font colour, not the rattle!)

Not yet fixed as I look at it. 🤷‍♂️

ok, I will give it one more try around the air vents with felt etc and see if that does the trick - these things are not easy to find!

On mine, it seems to come from the very front left corner at the top of the dashboard, just where it meets with the windscreen and A pillar.
It only does it when it's cold.
When I get time, I'm going to stuff a couple of foam pads down where the front corner of the dash meets the windscreen and see if that helps.
I've already done the vents.
If I press down in that corner I can definitely hear a creak that's similar to the rattle.

Hi, Interesting - what you are describing is not the same as mine, no creaks on the A Pillar and the vibration is less when its hot, and feels like is coming from lower in the dash, does feel like something plastic

Tonight I will put the footwell cover back on and put lots of felt around the air vents, I didn't get this in the early months of ownership, its come on through use over surfaces, is my thinking

Good to get other peoples experiences to help

So, I have put the tray back in the passenger footwell and put felt around the vents, quick drive and still getting the slight vibration/rattle on rough roads, nothing has changed - I will need to keep searching

I find it best to take out a passenger and let them try and source the rattle while you drive on the rough road. That way they can use their ears and push on various things that seem to be the source of the noise until they home in on it. I did similar for my neighbour and we found the rattle source in less than five minutes 👍
