Hello everyone. I've just joined this group as (hopefully) this week, or next at the latest I will take delivery of a Pearl Black S6.

My current car, a 2022 Skoda Kodiaq 200TDI comes to the end of it's lease in June so I began shopping around for a replacement - looked at some ICE options but didn't really see anything that I liked and the current model Kodiaq really isn't my cup of coffee (I don't drink tea). So, looked at some hybrids - then asked my father in law who has done the hybrid thing and his advice was taken and I ditched that plan.

Went to an MG dealer in Banbury and sat in the IM6 they had - wow! But I'm 52 and just had open heart surgery so maybe no - and my wife would probably go mental as it's teched up to the eyeballs. We then sat in their S6 and my daughter loved it - a good sign my wife would be less negative towards it - but didn't have the option to drive it as it was in their showroom.

Much head scratching and research and a week later, my daughter and my 6' 6" son went out to have a proper look at my shortlist:

Skoda Enyaq - rear seats and floor height ruled it out for my son's comfort and I didn't like the driver's view either. No.
BYD Sealion 7 - Stupid name for a car, not enough headroom in the back and V expensive!
Peugeot 5008 - probably the shortest visit to a showroom ever - he sat in the back and the seat barely had the depth for his bum let alone any leg support.
MGS6 - blown away! he practically disappeared in the back, the driver's view was great, the whole car felt really spacious and comfortable so we had a 3 hour test drive.

Pros: Too many to list. Biggest one for me is the heated steering wheel - post operation I am on beta blockers for ever, and my hands get really cold - so having this is brilliant!
Cons: Stereo may take some time to get used to - Skoda's Canton system in my car is very good.
Roof doesn't open (first world problem)
BONG, BONG, BONG - but can create a custom setting to shut them all up each time.
Driver's seat base doesn't tilt - another first world problem but the last 5 cars I've had have all done this, although the seat is very comfortable.

That's it. So I ordered the AWD one in silver. 30 mins after leaving the dealership they called to say the silver one in stock had been sold while we were doing the paperwork (I thought he had reserved it with the £100 I had just given him) but there is a black one available, and they would give me £250 for the trouble.

OK - so I have a block car, again. More time to clean it but it does look good and it will be here very soon!

That was the main reason I chose the S6 over the other options (Enyaq, iD7, iD5) Higher up off the road and being 6'2", I can comfortably sit in the back behind my driving position. Size wise, it has everything I need for my young family, coming from a pretty clapped out 2013 Vauxhall Zafira...(A lot of my friends are of similar height, so I know on the couple of group trips we do a year, they'll be comfortable!) Just an impatient 8-12 week wait now!

The most important part of that process for us was physically experiencing the cars on my list - lots of reviews suggested that the Enyaq would be the best for all our needs, until we sat in one.
I liked the Enyaq, but the seats weren't comfortable for my fat backside! Not a whole lot of space in the back when I thought there would be either. Boot was big but to get the kind of spec that the Trophy S6 comes as standard with, I'd need to pay way more than I was comfortable with.

I'm a bit of a Hi-Fi guy, and have worked with sound for the best part of my life. The stereo was bad when I tested it, and I almost didn't buy it because of it. But from experience, I know speakers often take some time to break in, and also, everything is upgradable if you want.
After about a month now, it sounds a lot better, after some tweaking on the EQ and sound stage settings. Will replace the sub at some point, but for now, it's OK. The speakers are actually pretty decent. Could do with a bit more power, but they're not bad.

This is great to read - I have been spoiled with the Canton and a Bose setup before that, so once I've played about with this I'll be happier.

Congrats on your new motor! 😀

And.
