My Dad and I had tickets to see the Nottingham Forest match last Thursday evening.

Insisted that we took my car to Nottingham this time rather than his diesel, given the price rises.

I found someone online who rents out their drive and charger and it all went well. Used a lot less energy on the way up than expected (mild weather, traffic, roadworks etc.) so arrived with 46% battery.

Found the house and parked next to their car which turned out to be MG5 EV. Perhaps a member of this forum? (sjtaylor75?)

Went into city to have dinner before the match. Very nice.

Car was charged up to 100% before the match was finished. We could have got another 10-15% worth if required, given that it was a 30 minute walk.

I think this kind of 'destination charging' strategy is the best way to go. No need to rapid charge. Our alternative option was to park at the park and ride where there are chargers but that would have been less convenient and more expensive.

Anyway, just thought I would share that an EV which isn't officially the best for long-distance travel can be perfect for the job with a bit of planning.

[Additional - we used the more expected 65% of battery on the way home with full dual carriageway speeds available and a lower temperature].

Excellent planning, though I'd have been a bit reluctant to do that walk.
There was a bus option as well, but might not have been very frequent at that time in the evening. As it was we were happy to walk.

Focused on this location because it is near a relative at whose place we usually park (no EV charging).
