IM6 Insurance

I got a quote (out of interest) for a BYD Sealion 7 - £330, much cheaper than I imagined - full NCB Kent postcode.

Well the sealion has been in the market for a while now. First month the insurance quotes were over 1k for it too.
To be fair I have test driven it but I wouldn't go for it.
Lovely interior; very plush but not better than the IM.
After this; everything is subpar.
Prices; massively inflated for the BYD.
Charging speeds; only the top spec which is almost £60k has decent one (230 kw/h). The other two very slow.
Efficiency, really really bad.
Technology, not great. Forget dashcam, auto-parking, even the indicators pop up the cameras only at speeds up to 10 mph.
Driving behaviour; really good on the motorway but drives like a boat when on B roads or in a city. The suspension is super soft so when you hit a speedbump or a pothole is takes a while to stop going up and down. A road near my house has a number of speedbumps ridiculously close to each other. When I drove it through there I almost became nauseous. First time this happened to me in a car since I was 10...

Hi all,

Was wondering if any of you managed to find a better deal?
Unfortunately not, had to pay the £1800 Tesco quoted me, butI'm expecting to cancel and go elsewhere once the IM6's assigned an insurance group and other insurances can quote cheaper.

World of bloody car insurances...
Be careful what title you choose.
I keep checking how the insurance fluctuates. I have a PhD and since everywhere I have and use the Dr title I did the same with the insurance quotes.
Today I had an epiphany and changed it to Mr.
Tesco quote went from £1800 to £1200....What the actual F.....

Maybe they think your mind won’t be on the road!

Picking my car up next Tuesday and have just insured it with LV.
Long range, 10,000 per year, full no claims both me & she who must be obeyed covered. £785 for the year ( including free recovery to a charger if I run out & free cover for my home charger for if it gets nicked or catches fire).
So higher price than my old car, but not a high as it could have been 👍

Sooo..... insurance still seems to be a tricky subject on the IM6 with a lot of insurers not willing/able to quote, especially for Performance or Launch Edition. Like others, I suspect this will stabilise over the coming months. I insured with Tesco today, virtually the only ones quoting for a Launch Edition at the moment. I guess they are going to clean up a bit at the moment if they are the very few that are quoting🤷‍♂️

You would have thought that judging on my job title and place of work they would have understood that I am not a medical doctor..
But apparently computer says Nooooo
I expect that their quoting algorithm sees "Dr" and automatically assumes you'll be blue-lighting to the shops all the time!

I have found some other companies offering insurance and cheaper too compared to Tesco but I haven't heard of them before. Looking on their reviews I cant say I feel confident to insure a £50k car with them.
I may have to take the hit (when my car arrives) and go with Tesco too.
Admiral who is my current insurer doesn't even provide a quote. When I spoke with one of their employees on the phone she didn't seem very confident that they will be offering anything in the near future stating that the HP of the car is nothing like they insure.

This is utter @@ though since they quoted me for a 2023 BMW XM Label Red with a 738 hp for £522 per year lol.

Who was offering less than Tesco?
