Folks.
2022 plate Pre-FL Excite owner here.
The car has had a few glitches; radio needing a reboot, HV battery not engaging when switching on & brake pressed, wipers not working & Start/Stop LED not lighting up even though it will drive fine etc.
I've also started to get fairly regular errors when unlocking the car saying "12V Battery Charge Low Refer to Handbook". If HV not engaged within about 30 seconds, another message comes up with "Refer to Handbook" replaced with "Please Start".
With the HV Battery engaged and heating/AC/lights on, it reads 13.8V. With lights off, goes to 14.6.
With no HV Battery, reads 11.9 with lights off, immediately drops to 11.8 when lights on, but then my bottle goes and I switch on before it can drop further.
Took it to a garage this morning to get a new 12V battery, the mechanic was a bit flummoxed and said he'd never seen such a new car (including EVs) with a duff battery before. He basically refused to put a new battery in it, as his place guarantees them and he didn't want to have to swap it out when/if the same thing happened again.
So my question to you good people: Could this genuinely be a dead/dying battery, or is it something a MG dealer should look at to see whether there are other gremlins at play? I'm reluctant to go the MG route, because if it's something not covered by warranty (i.e. the 12V), I'd have to fork out £140 for diagnosis AND a new battery. Although the car was registered in Nov 2022, I bought it last October 2023 with only 15 miles on the clock, so it had been sat around for a fair while pre-me.
Thanks to you wonderful people.
