Coz they are quite willing to screw you. But coz there's any chance whatsoever they might have to pay out they don't wanna know. They probably believe all the Bollocks about EVs bursting into flames every 5 minutes. And battery damage writing EVs off with only slight damage.

I find those comparison sites a bit weird.
I just arm twisted my current insurer - ended up paying £617.76, that's with Churchill. Two drivers, (67 yrs) fully comp etc
I got the tax back from my previous car and paid the £195 ved. Next year, unless they come to their senses, I'll have to pay the luxury tax on top.

At least you knew in advance about the luxury car tax, the goal posts weren't shifted part of the way through ownership like some things

Unfortunately this is all too common with new vehicles. It will settle down and prices will drop but that doesn't help pioneers.
