Am I being dumb, or does the iSmart app no longer have route planning options? If so, where?
I'm sure it used to when I had my MG4. Whether its any good or not is another question!

I've always got "Sorry! No data." when I look at "My Travel Plans" with no option to add one. Also I hate that you can only add 1 schedule for preheating. I do a 3 mile commute in the morning and again in the evening. I can only set preheating for the morning trip.

Yeh, annoying!

I've just been experimenting to find the easiest way of planning a route (not using the car's sat nav) and then getting it to the car.
The simplest method I've found is to plan the route in Google maps (I use a PC for this for convenience) and then use Android Auto (I assume Apple CarPlay will work in the same way) in the car.
I've discovered this method works best, at least for me:
  • First, plot the route in Google Maps. If you want to customise the route, perhaps to take in a place of interest, don't drag the route line, plot interim stops instead (I'll explain why shortly)
  • Next select "Copy Link"
  • Email the link to yourself
  • Create a folder in your emails labelled "Routes" or something and move the received email there for safe keeping and reuse.
  • When you want to navigate the route, simply click on the link in the email and follow the directions via Android Auto (or Apple CarPlay)
  • Assuming you kept the email, its there to use again if needed.
The reason I mentioned not dragging the blue line in Google Maps is that when the route is sent to your phone, or link produced, its only the fixed destinations that are sent and the phone re-plots the route from those and doesn't see your customisations to the route unless you force it to by specifying waymarkers, or interim destinations.

Of course, you could always use ABRP, but I can't get on with their route planner at all! I just send it to Google Maps, add a few waypoints to shape the route how I want it then follow the procedure above!
