Locking Driver Seat Belt

I bought an MG5 EV six months ago and absolutely LOVE it with one major caveat!!! The drivers seatbelt constantly will not release. I try every angle and combination of "pulling" techniques to release it so I can drive. It is driving us absolutely crazy. It will randomly work once or twice throughout the day when I get in and out of the car while doing shopping/tasks, then suddenly I am stuck looking like an absolute idiot trying to "jiggle" it to release. You can just imagine how annoying this is and can add up to 15 mins extra time required to do a simple trip to the shops.

We live on a farm where you don't need to put on your seatbelt to just drive 800 ms to the front gate to get the mail but of course it constantly beeps at you if you don't put on your belt. The dealer insists when they look at it there is nothing wrong so says there is nothing they can do.

It is becoming untenable. Any suggestions? PLEASE
Try some WD40

Some owners have complained that the seat buckle on the drivers seat on the S5 is placed too low down, on side of the seat 💺 and makes clipping in the seat belt difficult.
Especially if you have a large coat on at the time.
You also want the car to stop “bleeping”, when you want to make small trips around the farm.
So, want about this idea 💡 🤷🏻.
Maybe consider buying one of these seat belt buckle extenders ?.
It may make plugging in the belt much easier and it will fool the car into thinking you DO have the seat belt on ?.
No annoying beeps 👍 as well.
If you take this route, please remember to use your belt on, before doing on the open road though 🙏.
I am in a bit of a dash this morning, so just check the sizes of these before you order one.
I will include a link too an example 👍.

Am I overthinking this? My partner has a problem using my mgs5 seat belt. So I was thinking of the seat belt extension. However I noticed the release was a button on the side. Then I thought what happens in a side impact where my passenger gets shoved sideways and their body impacts the button. The belt releases and a second front or rear impact occurs ? Moving on could a normal person just fidgeting sideways release it? So has anyone any experience with these extensions in day to day use?

I don’t think it imposes anymore of a risk tbh.
In fact, it could be said in some ways that accessing the release button is a little better for the emergency service in the event of an accident in some respects ?.
The original button is so far down the side of the seat 💺 that locating it, could be difficult.
The red button has to be pushed down inside of the catch to release the belt.
So I can’t see how it could be released by compressing it side ways tbh 🤷🏻.
I guess you could purchase them and give it a short trial first and then see how it goes.
They are not massively expensive if you don’t like them.
