I’ve done a charge since activating the Ionity subscription, and it has definitely paid for itself already.

I charged from about 10 to 80%. I couldn’t be bothered going past this as it was going to take another 55 minutes to reach 100% and it’ll be faster to do a 10 minute top up at Ionity just off the Edinburgh bypass tomorrow.

A discount of £14.44 for the cost of £10.50 is a profit in my book, and since I plan another trip with 2 Ionity charges at the start of January then I continue to benefit

I will l likely cancel in January and use this again when I take my trip to Switzerland later in the year.

Certainly when you do the Ionity subscription through Electroverse, it seems you can sign up then cancel within the first month. Isn’t it the same if you do it directly via Ionity?

I’ve just signed up for this, and it seems I can cancel before the 13th if January to not be charged for another month.

I think if you do a reasonably sized charge, as I plan to do tonight, it pays for itself after one charge.

I will also do a couple of charges at Ionity at the start of January, so it’s definitely worth it for me.

This is exactly my own understanding which is why I opted for the montly subscription. I can cancel once I complete my trip and I won't be charged going forward. I think Ionity is a great option because the subscription based charges are the lowest I could find and their chargers are 350 KW as well. Additionally, if you are travelling to Europe, then this is ideal.

Is it a pretty straightforward process to use the Ionity charger? I guess you just scan the QR code and then start charging. Does the payment go out directly through the app?

As I said earlier in the thread, I’ve only ever used an Electroverse card and this is how I’ve signed up for the Ionity subscription.

It’s just a case of plug in the car, and then authorise payment, which I do by holding my RFID card to the reader.

You can also authorise it, and start it from the Electroverse app, which I mostly never do. It uses GPS to locate the site and then you are presented with a list of unit IDs. Pick the one that matches the sticker on the unit you are using, and press “charge now”, and payment is done through the app.

Although I’ve never used it, I would imagine this is how the Ionity app works like this too. It’s certainly how the Tesla app works.

The QR code is probably just a shortcut to the above.

Ionity is certainly only of the most reliable and easiest networks to use and I’ve never been let down by them.

Funnily enough, I am in Newcastle just now, having travelled here from Dundee yesterday.

I left on 100%, and added 30.32kWh on the way when we stopped to eat, arriving in Newcastle on 59%. I probably could have made it without charging on the way - it was more an opportunistic charge since the restaurant we stopped at had a charger.

I reckon 200 miles range is about right in current temperatures.

If you have an Electroverse card, and you can find handy Arnold Clark chargers on your route, then there is an £8.99 subscription which brings the price to 39p/kWh. The PAYG prices are only 55p as well, and I’ve used them in a couple of locations and they are good. You can also use their toilet and get a free coffee.

Is there a benefit to owning an Electroverse card vs just using the App? I use the app at the moment and never understood the reason for the card.

Nah there’s no financial benefit or anything. I guess I just prefer the ease of swiping the card, instead of opening the app, finding the correct site and identifying which unit you are using, etc.

I leave the card in the centre console in my car so it’s always there.

Ah okay makes sense will give it ago, saves faffing about with the app. Ordered a card!
