Long motorway round trip in MG S5EV – Update after completing the trip

Charging curves are always handy to know so you can balance how much charge to put in between stops and how long you will have to wait to get to a certain level of charge.

This site has some info for the S5

Thank you

As a new EV driver this is a really interesting comparison.
I'm coming from a V8 diesel Cayenne and I've tracked my fuel use using the fuelly app over the last 40k miles, so if I take those averages, this trip would have seen

Average efficiency 28.5mpg
Average diesel cost per gallon £1.54
Total cost of trip £170.94

Seems a huge difference, but I would have done each leg in one go, only filling up before I left my destination to come home, I can't abide "stopping for coffee" on a journey, I like to get in, drive, get out.

This I think may be the biggest issue I have with my new EV, I do quite a lot of long distance driving and never, ever stop!

What price convenience I guess.
Where can you get diesel for £1.54 a GALLON, litre surely

I'm amazed you're getting a range of 245 miles at this time of year. I have just done a round trip of about 380 miles - 188 miles on Xmas day & 192 miles back home today. It was pretty cold on Xmas day & I only had 13% left when I got there, remaining miles was 26, so in theory range was 214. Coming back I had 17% left when I got home, remaining miles was 37, so range in theory was 229 (bang on the predicted range when charged to 100%).

At least I didn't have to charge along the way. Charging at home with IOG @7p per kWh, & about 20p per kWh, charging at my Sister's (granny charger - took 26 hours !)

I was lucky that both days of travelling were clear and bright; I didnt have to use the heater all the way. I am sure that would have contributed to the increased range. Additionally, I used the Motorway all the way and driving at or around the legal limit.
