From Carwow:
The MG Cyberster EV concept looks utterly sensational with its swooping bonnet and intricate wraparound grille design.
This two-seat electric sportscar is said to offer almost 500 miles of range and a 0-60mph time of less than 3.0-seconds. Fingers crossed this car makes it to production without losing too much of that visual wow factor.
From
MG on Monday used Auto Shanghai 2021 to present a new concept, and it possibly foreshadows a return to those roadster roots.

The concept is called the Cyberster, and it's a two-door roadster with battery-electric power. MG is short on details but has said there's 5G connectivity, 0-62 mph acceleration in under three seconds, and a battery good for 500 miles of range. We should point out the range estimate is based on test cycles used outside the United States and would likely come in lower based on the EPA's methodology.

The concept uses LED technology to simulate the round headlights of MG's classic roadsters, while at the rear there's a bold Kamm tail shape and taillights that look like the Union Jack-style design introduced by fellow British brand Mini on its own cars.
Responsible for the design is MG's Advanced Design Center in London.

Might the Cyberster be production-bound? The last we heard, MG is planning to launch an electric sports car this year but it will be a coupe and not a roadster. This suggests the Cyberster isn't production-bound, something backed by a statement made by MG that the concept only points to the future technology and design of the brand.

How much is the top ZS EV in China, Eric?
200k cny is under £23k. There is no way it would cost that little here. The ZS EV costs that much here.
If we figure out how much more the ZS EV is here than in China and apply the same increase, that’s a better starting point for a discussion.

Looking at the Cyberster, it’s range and acceleration, it would be difficult to imagine it being less than £50k in the UK.
If MG priced it at £30k, they would sell a lot.

It's a nice looking car, no doubt. But:
  1. If it's available in the UK in anything like the form shown in the concept photos, it'll be totally impractical. We are a country who proudly covers it's road network with speed bumps!
  2. Potholes. I won't mention them ;)
  3. The production model is likely to look significantly different to this concept model IMHO.
Still, I'm going to follow this with interest :)
