I had a quick look around and couldn't see anywhere obvious to put a thread on a discussion of prices of all nearly new and second hand MG EVs, but if there is somewhere better, could a mod move it for me, please?

I have found an MG S5 for sale from an MG dealer, 75 plate, with 10 miles, for under 23K.

Is this unusual?

I don't think £23k is unusual for the MGS5, there are a few 75-reg on Autotrader at the moment for even less than that.

Is it a trophy spec? If so doesn't appear to be

No it's not. That's what I paid for mine in Trophy spec from Stoneacre Derby a few months ago. In fact they registered it in their name when I ordered it and changed it into my name a couple of days later. I had the choice of any colour I wanted at no extra cost.

Mine also was 23k, don't know yet if it's a long term strategy from MG or if they just over stocked and want to get rid of some.
They are probably selling them cheap to flood the market of people looking for a SUV EV to stop the new importers of SUVs (Jaecoo, Leapmotor, XPeng etc.) getting a foothold especially as they are available straight away.

Be interesting to see their tactics with the S6

MG did similar in Sept for a new, unregistered HS Hybrid + Trophy for registration by 30th Sept.
I saw a number available on Auto Trader but selected a dealer close to me (8 miles).
They had a choice of colours on offer at £25,500 (about £7000 off list.) I chose Hampstead Grey.
Paperwork with the car gave a manufacture date of 29th May 2025. Seemed like a good deal but I could not get the dealer to explain why MG were making the offer. Very tight lipped.

Some manufacturers are dropping their prices to compete with those who get the government subsidy, it may be that.

Well it's not so great for used car prices when we come to sell.

Yep, but you've paid a low price in the first place, so will even itself out. We can't have it both ways. S'pose if you've paid full or near full retail price, you could be in the Shit. But really, who does these days.
🙂👍

This pricing stuffs up all sorts of things

Used market values
Make a mockery of any business or leasing agreement that uses the manufacturers RRP for BIK calculations
Insurance valuations

No doubt it might. But at the end of the day. Most private motorists, which I'm just presuming most of us are. Are only bothered about getting a nice motor. For as little as possible. Which ever way you look at it. 🙂👍

Yep, and obviously that's unfortunate.
I've been there meself with a few cars. No doubt most of us have. But these days, very few pay full retail. 🙂👍

I got my poverty pack MG4 51 at what I thought was an ok price for a new car, went looking after a new member showed their latest s/h purchase, to see what a s/h poverty pack was worth ...... they were all more expensive than what we paid new, even '23 plate models .... so, over here, they are holding their price no matter what bargains are offered every so often .... they are a most desirable car .....
