Ok - I've had my IM5 performance a week and here's my first review....
Looks
I went for the white exterior and white interior. I think it's a gorgeous looking car from most angles.
Build quality
Early days, but it seems very well put together. Surfaces seem high quality and every passenger so far has commented on how comfortable the seats are.
No "new car smell" which was disappointing!
Interior
Very pleasing interior. I always prefer light interiors so this is perfect for me. Very unfussy. Not a lot of storage space (no glove compartment), but that just means I can't leave clutter everywhere
. Good space front and back. Decent boot, although not as big as some competitors. Forget the frunk - just enough space for the cables and tyre kit.
Tech
It's weird that they would go all in in some areas and leave other areas untouched... for example - the door unlocking mechanism must be expensive, also the rear wheel steering must add a fortune to the cost - yet a couple of things they could have done for free are missing like auto-dipping full beam or front and back DashCam recording (or even sentry mode) are missing!
The interface is awful. Definitely designed by a car person and not an interface person. So many options are in strange, unintuitive places!
Cruise control / Pilot mode... This is definitely the worst feature of this car. It's just not fit for purpose and borderline dangerous. If you have adaptive cruise control active then it will bomb up to the car in front and slam on the brakes when it notices it!
If you pull out behind a car that's just overtaken you - it will slam the brakes on when it sees it (even though it saw it go past you).
Going round a slight bend with cruise control on - it will invariably brake for some reason.
Sound is good although about 1/4 of the times you get in - it won't find Apple CarPlay.
App is good and easy to use.
Keys are a bit of joke.. You get 3 "keys". The main key fob is quirky and has no way to connect it to other keys, the hard key (actual metal key) is just the metal bit from a standard key and doesn't connect to anything and is separate from the other key, the key card is just a credit card that lives in your wallet. Can I please have 2 key fobs that the metal key fits into and can fasten to my other keys (like every other manufacturer).
Driving
It's lovely to drive! Effortless. The steering is spot-on and it's small turning circle means that you always feel like you can manouvre it how you'd like.
Efficiency
Not great.. Pretty much the same as my 5 year old Jaguar i-Pace.. about 2.5kW round the doors and the same in ECO mode on the motorway at 70. I got about 260 miles in ECO mode from full to almost empty on a long motorway trip.
Performance
Excellent - tons of power, delivered how you want it. I've not had any wheelspin yet and when you give it everything, it feels composed and controlled.
