Just a quick closer from us - although we were incredibly impressed with the IM5, and the amazing value for money it represents (particularly via the new car discount website), we've decided to wait for a bit and look at an ex-demo Mercedes CLA 250+ in about 6 months or so. Having test driven both the CLA and the IM5, they're both superb cars but the CLA is much more our size and more suited to trips in Devon, Cornwall, Wales and elsewhere where the roads are narrow. The CLA did 4.5mi/kWh compared to 2.9mi/kWh too.
So I'm sure that IM5 and IM6 owners will love their cars and I wish you all the very best of enjoyment with them :) and please do keep us posted with your ownership experiences!

That advert is wrong. The picture is of a petrol CLA and the price is wrong for the AMG Line Premium, which is about £51k before the standard discount of £4850.

Yeah I know the picture is wrong, but that is a hell of a click bait with the price, never actually checked.

Have since checked an notice you can get £4k off on the Mercedes website

Yes, believe me I’ve checked extensively and was at the dealer yesterday, as I said. I’ve dropped the dealer a message as that advert is wrong. It is a decent car for the money though, at the “discounted” price.

Thanks for the extensive write-up, mainly because it saves me doing exactly the same! We test drove the 75kWh IM5 on a rainy day last weekend and our impressions are almost a carbon copy of yours. I do actually quite fancy the white interior colour scheme, just because I hate dark plasticky interiors, and I lament the lack of any kind of desirable colour (grey is not a colour, in my book, it's a depressing non-colour). We found it to be extremely smooth, with the tech working very well and non-intrusively. We have a narrow stone-edged drive which is tightly onto a single track lane; our Megane e-Tech reverses onto it fine as it has an extremely tight turning circle; our ID.3 takes a couple of goes; the IM5 actually turned so tightly it would have hit the wall! The rear steering was a revelation for me and threading the car through traffic, round roundabouts and in town felt a doddle. I'm not a fan of big cars but this really felt easy.

I think the only negative was a bit of tyre noise - I was hoping it might be a bit quieter with the double-thickness laminated windows, but sadly not. I think the ID.3 is a quieter car, in fact.

Next car to test drive: a Mercedes CLA 250+ next weekend... that should be a stern challenge - even the top-spec AMG Line Premium has less kit, and the IM5 is some £12k less...
I have test driven the IM5 and the Merc 250+ sport edition on the same day. Obviously the Merc was rather stripped out in terms of blows and whistle, only got the parking cameras, even the adaptive CC that I got on my MG4 was lacking. That was the one discounted to 40K. Yet, the Merc ride and suspension was definitely superior, acceleration not particularly different, but the Merc is a more refined ride, though I have to say the door shut test was better with the IM5, surprisingly in comparison to the well established Merc....
Still will go for the IM5,,, as the discount on affinity can not be ignored.....

Don’t forget that the current Affinity discount is only valid until the end of the month….

Merc is on my next car short list, it's efficient (not Tesla efficient) but up there, it's real world range is excellent, as proven in Tesla Bjorn''s test and that was the 350 4wd version.
I would actually prefer a car about the mg4, born, id3 size again but with really good efficiency and a 300+ miles real world range. The IM5 is just to big and thirsty and if there were any issues I couldn't be arsed going through the battle with dealers and MG UK to get things fixed that we have had with the 4

Pity the merc only has a 3 years warranty. If they were confident of their cars I would expect it to be longer.

Should be more but MGs 7 year isn't the greatest as items drop off quite quick, as several members have found to their own cost when they have had to pay for items to be repaired/replaced that really should have been covered by warranty
