No, he drove the dual motor bonkers version, not the single motor long range version, which should be around 5% (or so) more efficient, based on my experience with the difference between single and dual motor Polestars.
I thought it was the performance IM5 and long range 6 he drove, he specifically said the 6 he drove didn't have air suspension, so assumed it was the LR as the launch edition has air suspension

Quick question. Went over to carwow to check potential offers for the IM6 and I got the message that the configurator has changed and need to redo it.
Did it again out of curiosity and did not notice any difference.
Went over to MG site and nothing has changed either?
Confusingly carwow although pops that message; it does not give any indication on what the actual change is....

Furthermore a little frustration; why is it so tricky to actually have a conversation with someone from the dealerships when you want to progress your purchase....
So more straightforward with Tesla...but let's not go there...

New to the brand and EVs here. Test drove the IM6 a few days ago. Totally blew me out of the water. Totally don't get the negative reviews. I think some just don't get it. For the Chinese, cars are luxury items. Not toys. The more premium, the more it should be comfortable and luxurious. The IM6 is like this bubble that insulates you from the outside. You can still perceive it, but it's definitely more distant. Overall, it just feels like a high speed train, gliding smoothly across all terrain. Steering is not lively and very neutral. Yes it is not "fun", But fun can get tiring on long journeys. I have a young child on board. I want fun, I go for an MX5 or RX8. Overall very impressed. Even the driving aids can be tuned down to be hardly intrusive. Didn't notice it much.
So why have I not pulled the trigger? Dealers. Despite the offers advertised on the MG website, the dealer I went to quoted me something much more expensive. And low-balled the car I bought from them 2 years ago for part-ex! So I made another enquiry on the MG website and another dealer got in touch. I told them I am ready to talk business. No reply since. And I am potentially going to get the S5 as well. I would think they would be trying hard to get my business. But hey, I get it. Plenty of business. Who cares about me? Do you all have any decent dealers to recommend?

To the forum. 🙂👍

Hey, how come I didn't get a welcome picture @salty ;) ;)
I questioned the dealer I've been dealing with and he just said "it is just the pricing that's changed I believe", yet when I go to the MG website, the prices are the same...

Our dealer seems really good (so far) and has excellent reviews - Drive MG Leamington Spa, 4.8* on Google reviews. Andy dealt with us, and you can tell him Richard Gledhill sent you ;)
They've also been the first to come back with offers via CarWow too.

hi Richard!

Thanks for the recommendation! Looks like a lot of dealers up to skullduggery. What aggrieved more for me was that I enquired back in August and even put down a holding deposit without knowing the numbers (as they weren't released yet). I paid for a service package with the same dealer for my current car and sales person tried to lowball me by saying they'll take the car without a service. Clearly I have done some research. I knew more about the car than he!
You dealer sounds good. But L Spa is a long way to travel from London for servicing. But will keep your Andy in mind!

Cheers
Lok

Look at MG Motors UK Affinity

Great video here. Goes through all the options of the touch screens and cabin control.

And here's the Euro NCAP...

This is a brilliant video - one of the most informative ones I have watched about the IM6 (and I have watched a lot!).

I work for a company that is signed up to the NHS lease scheme and my order for an IM6 went through on Friday. I've been given a 12 to 16 week timescale for delivery 🙁. Not sure if those sort of lead times are similar for all IM6 orders or just for the NHS scheme. I'm an optimist so hoping they are under promising so they can over deliver!

You can service the car at any MG dealer equipped for the IM cars. Where you buy it from doesn't matter except for any initial handover niggles / problems you might have.

My order went in during the weekend too.
Private purchase for me. Was given the same lead time. I don't mind to be honest. It may have a beneficial impact to the ridiculous insurance quotes I am seeing at the moment.

Not bad at all for the price bracket the car comes.
I find it pointless though to carry the comparison up to 100% of battery charge.
None in their minds would do that while travelling and relying to fast charging. The amount of time it takes to hit 100% would be better to just have a quick top up when needed.
Disappointing to see how Tesla is falling behind on this aspect.

Yeah, he just does that for completeness I think so that his graphs go all the way.

He is collecting and sharing a lot of useful data for the rest of us consumers to consider.

The overriding thing from that comparison is just how slow the Tesla is, and that headline charging speeds mean nothing, it's all about the sustained charge curve. Both the IM5/6 platform and CLA have super-smooth charging curves which is indicative of really good battery thermal and charging power management.
