My S5 goes fast as a rocket,
And it's also most kind to my pocket,
But its software is crap,
There's no question of that,

It explains why my SE model didn't have any issues.
I have a Trophy but also didn’t have this issue.

I’ve not been using CarPlay recently and don’t really use the voice control.

From what I understand CarPlay requires the voice control to be available, and I suspect Android Auto may be the same.

Is there anyone who experienced the issues who doesn’t use CarPlay/Android Auto?

Do we know the versions numbers to see if you are on the latest. Cheers
 
Not having been out in my pride and joy since Thursday I'm not sure whether I was affected. However, 4G reception where I am is extremely patchy and so I might have gotten away with it.

What I hope MG learned here?
Don't do updates on Friday except is an emergency update/fix.

Any good software devops team will know this. Hope they learn from the experience.
Ideally would be Tuesday or Wednesday, maximum Thursday...
 
There still seems to be a lingering belief that this had to do with an update.

I don't think that's right at all. An AWS server went down, meaning that our cars couldn't contact mothership. It would seem that that is enough to cripple them, because they go into some kind of loop or limp mode if they can't communicate with the servers.

That is appalling programming, and that is what needs to be fixed, and the lesson to be learned.

We, as users, also have a lesson to learn, which is that if these symptoms appear, we should simply switch off data.

It is a shame that the early, apparently wrong,diagnosis of a failed OTA is perseverating.
