Mine was the Z80. Monitor was a huge black and white tube, wooden casing and huge speakers in it for sound. Myomy, did my neighbours complain when I was playing a game...

I used to program this way:

😁😎

As in ... can I still do it? No, too much water under too many bridges to remember how to do it. But I'm sure I could learn it again. :)

I don't have any relevant equipment to do it with now though.

Last time I used paper tape as a storage device for code input was on an ICL 2960

FWIW, my first program was written in Fortran on paper in school, sent off, converted to punched cards and put through a PDP11 at the local tech college. Then we got back the printout in the next computing lesson the following Friday. Invariably with a message like LINE 20: FOR3852: syntax error. With a 7-day compilation turn-around time, it certainly concentrated the mind to get your programs right on the first attempt!

My favourite computer was HEX, developed and made by Ponder Stibbins, --it had "ants inside"
I'm sure all the intelligent people here have heard of him.

Never had that on the 2900s we used, but it was the data entry method on the Burroughs B2500 that I worked on before going to ICL. We often ended up reading then repairing the tape with special 'lick and stick' tape manually punching the holes through a perspex block.
