MG ZS Aircon Noise

Hi

I’ve bought a second hand 2019 petrol auto MG ZS. I’m happy with it apart from the aircon.

Every few seconds I get a hiss. Almost what sounds like an exhale of air or aerosol.

It only happens when the aircon light is on.

I’ve had the car degassed but it’s still making the noise.

Has anyone experienced the same or can advise what this might be? It’s driving me mad and it seems I’m just throwing money at it!

I should also say there are no leaks in the aircon system. This was tested when regassed

I am not sure if the air-con in the ZS is the same as the ZS EV but I maybe wrong.

Aircon in Petrol ZS is belt compressor based I believe. You are in the EV forum that uses a electrical compressor. You may be better of asking on a petrol ZS forum to see if they have had similar issues.

There must be some difference in how they operate because an engine driven compressor is variable speed (with disconnect clutch) but ours would be a constant speed device.

I have driven two ICE ZS (still own one) and this is completely normal. It's definitely unique as I have never had a car that does this before.
