How do you find it on inclines does it still over rev it's nuts off , also IAM glad you've had this update because MG UK are still not saying there is an update even though it's being rolled out further afield?

Just as an update on my current situation:
Complaint raised with my dealer - no response
Complaint raised with MG - useless response
Complaint raised with Citizens Advice, case passed to trading standards and is ongoing
Complaint submitted to Motor Ombudsman regarding poor service - Ongoing
Complaint raised with Santander (as the vehicle was purchased on finance) - Essentially fobbed me off with excuses
Complaint raised with financial Ombudsman - Ordered Santander to take the vehicle back, Santander rejected and asked for an independent inspection. Inspection now completed and determined there is a fault with the vehicle. Have written to Santander again and told them to take the vehicle back. Now awaiting their response.

The saga continues....
 
Which software update are you referring to? There is no mention of any new update regarding high engine speed here on the MG portal.
At least in the D-A-CH region, there has been no information about an update.

There has just been a new software update released in Australia New Zealand regarding over revving etc last month and seemingly mick78 on this forum from Austria has seemingly just had the software update, still trying to find out what software version number though?

We did a few PDIs the last days, checked for software updates with SIPS, never saw an update.

There are definitely rumors about updates, but so far I haven't seen any clear indications anywhere that this is purely a software update for increased engine speed.

I only know about updates relating to the vehicles (1.5 turbo engine from the HS to the ZS) with 2026, but nothing about software updates.

Especially since I doubt that this problem can be solved with a software update.

To be honest, I feel exactly the same. I really don’t think there’s any update coming, it just seems like MG are promoting the reduced over-revving and quieter cabin as an “improvement” to help sell the 2026 model (after all the complains regarding this issue).

I also don’t think this issue can be fixed with software updates alone. It probably needs some mechanical tweaks and better sound insulation (which is exactly what they’ll be changing in the 2026 version).

On the one hand, MG clearly know about the over-revving and interior noise problem (otherwise they wouldn’t be advertising those aspects as “improved” in the next model). But on the other hand, they haven’t announced any update at all (even though there are loads of complaints about it, and cars in the same segment don’t behave like this at all). No one would ever call this a “feature”, as MG seems to do. My guess is that they simply can’t sort it out through software alone.

Personally, I’ve already told anyone who’s asked me about the car not to buy it because of this issue (or what I’d consider unusual behaviour, having driven several other plug-in hybrid models and brands that don’t do this).

That’s just my humble opinion based on what I’ve read and found online and the questions raised to the dealerships, since MG don’t even bother to say whether it’s going to be fixed or not (even though plenty of people are asking for an update and complaining about how the car behaves).

Check car expert Australia on the internet. It mentions the latest update on top of the previous update, now a manufacturer isn't going to update software on 2026 models and not do the older version that leaves them wide open to a law suit . Just my opinion .ps my LAST CAR WAS TOYOTA COROLLA HYBRID AND THAT REVVED ITS ARSE OF GOING UP HILLS , so it's not just MG . Me thinks?
 
well, it's a small petrol engine that has to power the battery and help supporting the powertrain ... petrol engines are most effective on higher revs ... so, what do we expect¿

Totally agree, except that, since this is a characteristic of the car (like the rear camera, for example, which I was informed about), the dealership should be aware of this behaviour. It doesn’t show up during a test drive, and we’re not talking about minor details here but about very loud noise, higher fuel consumption, and noticeably poor soundproofing (definitely not the expected behaviour of a hybrid car). Yes, of course, these kinds of cars do rev higher under heavy load, but not to that extent. In mu lpinion, that’s why everyone is concerned about it (and if I’m not wrong, most of them — including myself — are mainly concerned about the noise and vibrations). Besides, MG wouldn’t be announcing these “improvements” for the 2026 model if it were just a normal characteristic. They’re clearly well aware of the owners’ complaints, and if they don’t improve this issue, sales will definitely go down.

Totally agree with everything you've said , and hopefully this latest software update etc gets rolled out in the UK and Europe, the only stumbling block is a customer service and most dealerships that don't give a shit about it's customers. , me personally I have never had to deal with both that have such sloping shoulders than this shower , only interested in selling cars and making millions. 😉

For sure, the dealerships have a fully rehearsed script to avoid mentioning this issue (not when you buy the car, not during the test drive, and not even afterwards). Even when you speak to different dealers, they all say exactly the same thing.

Personally, I’ve commented on practically every YouTube video and every post I can find where this car is being promoted, just to make people aware (since neither the dealer nor the brand warns you about it). I think we should all do the same, simply to be transparent and to stop more people ending up in the same situation. Maybe that’s the only way to make the brand react.

I always warn anyone who asks me in person about this behaviour (and absolutely no one — even after driving it — thinks it’s normal or pleasant). I really hope they fix it, otherwise they’re in trouble.

I don’t think the engines to blame . We have the same one in the hs and all be it with more hp. But the 1.5 is a good engine and combined with the electric motor and quite powerful. I had a 1.5 in a jeep compass and honestly it wouldn’t pull the skin off custard. Could be the different gearing as the zs has a 3 speed and the hs a 2 speed 🤷‍♂️ we are waiting to see if it’s finally sorted before buying the zs for the wife . Hope you all get it sorted as they are really good cars🤞🤞🤞
