I've just taken delivery of my MG4 L/R Trophy. Dec 2022 car. Having had a better look back home i've noticed the n/s panel where it meets to passenger door is a really bad fit. Please see images. Drivers side shown for comparison. Am I being "picky" bearing in mind the "value" price of these cars ? Anyone else had similar issues ? Covered under warranty ? I would much appreciate any input....

As it's not a new car, could it have been in an accident?
If you think it's covered by your warranty you should certainly raise it with the seller if you are not happy.

Many thanks, really appreciate the help/viewpoints, knew it would be a great forum to be part of. The possibility of it having been in an accident was my worry too. Bought from a well known leading on-line ev retailer I have the usual 7 days to return it so covered there albeit with lots of time / effort to sort the return as they are 65 miles away. Don't think I can live with it though, every time I go past it ...etc. Looks like my search for a replacement begins again ! thanks again ...

I agree with the others, that gap isn’t right.

I’d also like to mention that although the MG4 is considered cheap for an EV, I don’t think they are necessarily a cheap car, so don’t feel like you have to accept sub-standard experiences.

Thank you for your comment, it's great to know it's not just me thinking the same. My worry is that if the car has been repaired, was it involved in an accident such that the safety could be compromised? I would be worried each time I took it out, especially with young children in the back.

You could consider using one of the vehicle report companies to find out if the car has indeed been in an accident previously. One that comes to mind is Car Vertical (not an endorsement, simply one I've seen sponsoring Ashley Neal's videos), but I'm sure there'll be others. (If you did decide to use CV then you could use code Ashley at checkout to save 20%).

If such a report did indeed show a prior accident, and said information wasn't previously advised to you, then you've got a slam dunk reason to reject the vehicle as not being As Described - you would be entitled to a full refund. (You wouldn't even have to accept a replacement from them, as you'd be exercising your Initial Right To Reject per the Consumer Rights Act 2015. If it was me I'd also bill them for the vehicle report).

Just talk to the supplying retailer. Getting all 'legal' will just create a lot more problems.

My advice is regarding evidence if the seller becomes intransigent. ;)

And anyway, if you want to exercise your Initial Right to Reject you need to prove that the goods don't conform to contract. My advice is a (possible) way of doing that. :)
