Hi all,

Long story short - the current used price of my spec'ed MG4 is already lower than the GFMV I would be paying in c. 20 months time and so I'll be looking to hand the car back under voluntary termination when I hit the 50% mark.

I've been driving around without an engine undertray for well over 18 months (removed what was left of it after it dropped and shattered across the motorway) and in anticipation of handing the car back, I want to fit a new one myself as I'll no doubt get charged a fair whack when it gets flagged whilst returning the car.

There was a helpful post from a fellow MGer where they identified the part number when MG replaced the undertray and I have sourced a company in Herts that looks to sell the undertray for a fairly reasonable price - fortunately I kept all the fixing so this should be a straightforward job.

I'm not particularly knowledgeable about sourcing car parts etc and after a bit of googling, this site seems to be the only one where you can sort of easily add to the basket and order. However, unless I'm willing to pay for a courier I'll probably have to drive to Herts to collect it so I'm wondering if those who are in the know or who have had to do similar can advise if there are other providers of spare parts or other ways I can go about this? Thanks!

Here's a thought; if you choose to get your new under tray from Brown and Gammons and carriage costs seem prohibitive, have a look at using an independent courier via SHIPLY.
I've used Shiply a couple of times for furniture and large items.
Study their web page closely and see what you think, you may get quotes that will be better than a regular courier or transport company.

Have you asked a local dealer?
I haven't - to be honest I was slightly concerned about going to them because I thought they might consider me repairing it myself to void some sort of warranty. As I mentioned, I'm probably overly naive about this sort of thing so if this really isn't a problem, I'll ask them!

Thanks! Quite useful to know of them more generally as well for any other courier jobs :)

I only asked as Brown & Gammons was, until recently, a full MG dealer. It's where I bought my car. Sadly, MG in their infinite wisdom decided that B&G didn't have a large enough showroom to keep selling their new cars. They still do full servicing and warranty work as they are an MG approved business. So I would imagine that the prices they quote are likely to be MG ones. They are just good at mail order as they have run a large classic MG service for years where they no doubt have to ship parts all over the place. I used to get bits from them for my MGB GT back in the day!
