MG4 Trophy - Crack showing in boot perspex

I have a Trophy just over a year old. It has never been through a car wash, or had any sort of bump. Today I noticed what looks like a crack in the plastic on the rear boot light assembly. It is just over an inch long. I am at a loss to understand how it could have happened.

Has anyone else had similar?

Yes I did 2 days ago , annoyed how it happened!!! As parked on my driveway, sent pictures to mg as it only just appeared

Yes it happened to my MG4 after a couple of months from new. It was replaced under warranty around the year 1 service.

Not sure what caused it as parked on my driveway and don’t have have any jealous neighbours!! Reading it’s common and due to temperature fluctuations, just hope MG cover it under warranty.

Just sent mg pictures of the crack on my mg4 tailgate to an mg dealership they said from look at it they will not replace it under warranty , noticed boot door is misaligned, not sure how it happened annoying, the only one who operated the boot was me and the dealership when it went into them a month ago to repair an issue in the boot area

Noticed these on the XPower the other day. In the picture they look like scratches on the top surface but the are actually under the surface and seem to be material failures, car is coming up for 18 months old.

Yes had the same issue, at first the dealership do not want know saying it was through external force! Did my research and found that a lot of other people had the same issue so wrote a strong letter to mg customer service and after some back and forth correspondence with mg got it replaced but they said they did it as a act of good will?? Will not be getting another mg again after I give this one back on lease in 18 months

its a materials issue not an MG issue I think. I've seen other car forums where similar happens, also possibly due to using LED lights and not standard bulbs.
