took the premium version out for a test drive today.
for those of you who like the HVAC in Auto mode, there is now a 'long press' function for the A/C button. if you long press it from OFF to ON, it will switch the HVAC on and set the it to AUTO. which i think is rather nice.
In my half hour test drive with just me and the dog, doing some from the lights acceleration tests but mostly urban driving, i got 4.3 mi/kwh today with one pedal drive and Normal drive mode.
briefly tested Sport but my dog didn't like me pressing the throttle hard in any mode. I put jn ECO the last 10 or so minutes and there's very little difference between the three modes.
Plenty of gizmos although i'm considering purchasing the standard model with the smaller battery since i don't really see the point in the bigger battery and the free extras i never needed in the MG4 SE i had for two years.
The ride was comfortable, more compliance from the chassis compared to the MG4, the suspension could benefit from tyres with a higher sidewalls which incidentally is what i would get on the standard model. I will still consider swapping the tyres for some more premium european made all-season.
The 360 camera works really well but again, not a must.
Overall it feels well planted, at lower speeds the combination of more sorted suspension geometry and front wheel drive actually makes it handle better in every day traffic.
The infotainment system and the software generally feel really well made and intuitive especially if you are used to the previous mg4 system layout.
I think it's a nice car, in fact i think the looks line up with the mgs5, mgs6 and even the im5
