MG4 X Power Vibe/Hum 65 to 75mph

Don't think MG is a cheap arse car company. Cheaper than other cars, yes.
But that's the attraction of them. Decent cars, at a good price. Agree, MG do treat their customers, with contempt, and that's obviously wrong. But at least they are up front, that they don't give a shit.
Unlike German car companies who just cheat and blatantly lie to customers about emissions. Until they where caught out.

It’s not really in their interest to be knocking out rubbish though. In the U.K. they have a decent market share and they could continue to grow that, but not if they get a terrible reputation. The UK has the second largest new car market in Europe and isn’t applying huge tariffs to Chinese cars.

They obviously care to some degree as they seem more willing to address criticism than many other brands. As an example they put a rear wiper on before the car had been out a year and added one pedal driving. The facelift is focused on interior quality rather than styling, and that’s really where it falls short.

The flagship MG4 having this massive flaw must actually matter to them but there is no excuse for them being such tosspots about it. As I’ve said before, my car was built after all the fixes were applied at the factory, including the expensive stage 2 fix but had it REALLY BAD; steering wheel and passenger seat visibility shaking bad. Perhaps mine was an end-of-line old parts bin bargain!

I think mine probably had a combination of all the causes; wheels out of balance, deformed tyres, god knows what else they did during the near month long period they said the did nothing to it but vastly improved etc. They should have pulled the thing from the market until they solved it properly.

I do know it’s definitely not just tyres. Mild as it is on mine now it’s clearly more pronounced under hard acceleration when the front motor is engaged.

On a positive note, my local dealer fitted new front discs and pads under warranty this week to stop my horrendous squalling brakes!
I agree and it's great that the dealer is honouring some warranty..

To put it bluntly: yes it's never in their best interest to screw customers over, but it’s based on 2 important factors: price and volume ..

Sell for argument sake 500,000 cars 20% of them get an issue that ultimately pisses off the customer to maybe never buy MG again; 10% will go elsewhere the other 10 % will probably sit on the fence arguing with themselves that for the price the “car isn’t that bad “ blah blah ..

Next year MG sell another 500,000 cars based purely on being cheap, then the same BS starts again..

So at worse case lose 20% every year; it means nothing ..

For the most part I don’t hate my X power, and it has been pretty reliable ( as it should for a new car) but i won’t be returning to MG when I buy my next EV. MG customer service is disgraceful, so just NO.

But take your "yeah it’s not to bad I can live with it" customer. I guarantee they're MG’s bread and butter, rubbing their hand together knowing full well if they offer a semi compelling product, they will be back cash in hand!!

I’m sure there are worse cars companies out there not sure how many ..

Is MG bad bad? NO but they make cheap cars at a price ..

One could argue Hyundai was once like them, now they charge a premium for their cars ..

Toyota the same ..

As for VW and their emissions ( as I assume they're who you're referring to ),
I think they were playing the power game ( need power with “low emissions “ ) and they got caught out..

Can’t have both till electric vehicles became more mainstream ish ..

In essence though, if you rounded up 1000 EV owners and asked them about why they bought it, maybe if you're lucky 10% would say the environment..

I didn’t buy electric for the environment and cleaner blah blah BS ..

I bought it because it’s fast and cheaper to run and it’s new tech ..

I don’t give a crap about the environment and cleaner energy !

Why?? Because if people actually cared about the environment we would all be driving solar electric vehicles 40 years ago !

We’ll still destroy the planet for natural resources coal power plants natural gas etc etc to make our electricity!!

Double edged sword we drive electric vehicles thinking we are saving the planet but to charge it we are killing the planet..

Not as bad as ICE cars but still.

Most buy an EV because the Chinese stuff is cheap and it’s a lot less to run than petrol cars, with the added bonus of new technology !

I am the same, went electric as i love the powertrain and power delivery mainly, cost to run is a bonus being less and the environmental side of it is my lesser concern.
For pure driving pleasure personally i think you will never beat a fast petrol car, throaty exhaust, manual box and a decent driving road to rag it on😎.

Thought that at one time. Not anymore, give me an EV, particularly a fast EV, anytime. Just as much fun, if you want it to be, without the exhaust noise and manual gearbox (what's one of those?) 😉
But as always each to their own. 🙂

Guess it comes down to what performance petrol vehicles you have owned and where you have driven them. Think our highlight was either the Grimsel and Furker passes or the Route de Montets coming down from Switzerland to Chamonix in a 996 C2 - but that was many years ago.

What is more important the car / bike you are piloting or the road you are on . One of the bugbears of my biking days in England was that to travel to the playgrounds of North Yorkshire or Wales you had to traverse boring motorways or built up conurbations to reach them. Even 20 years ago these were being policed with an ever increasing zeal , no idea what they are like now with more automated systems to control the unruly. ( unlucky )
In central France in the foothills of the Massif Central we have some cracking quiet roads virtually on our doorstep , there are still cameras and rolling police checkpoints which can catch out the unwary but a lot of the roads ( twisty, hilly) are still challenging , and dare I say it , fun , within the legal limits for all vehicle types . That reminds me, I saw a pothole the other day , must report it !!!

Huh - I saw a bit of flat tarmac - neh.

Maybe in Australia, and some other countries, but a lot of places have a low carbon emission grid supply ... if Scotland ramped up battery storage (BESS) installations it could go 100% renewables grid supply right now, as the renewables capacity is already greater than the peak demand. The problem is the variability of supply with renewables (hence why BESS is needed to provide the backup when the weather is suboptimal for renewables supply). :)

Finally got my wheel balances checked today, only 1 wheel was out and that was only needing a 15gram weight to correct, so deffo no chance that will change mine.
But they also dropped my pressures back to 36psi where recommended so i will try it again there, then re inflate to 40psi and try again, but for sure a dead end outcome🤔

Sadly thought it would be.

We went through this process after buying in 2024 to no avail. The only thing that improved it slightly was when we had new tyres (Michelins) fitted at the dealers expense.

This is exactly why I will not buy another MG ..

These BS fixes or confusion of what will fix it ..

What was done to mine will fix it but UK dealers are either walking away or being told by MG MG to play dumb ..

It’s a simple tactic used by many companies make the customer jump though enough hoops till they get sick of the fights and give up ..

I can’t comment on other manufacturers.as in all honesty this MG 4 X power is the most amount I’ve ever paid for a car and is the first time I’ve ever owned a new car..

So I can’t really comment , maybe MG is just as bad as other brands but I bought their brand and have regretted a lot of aspects about it..

My only advice particularly to upset UK customers is take a big breath and vote with your wallet next time ..

Is MG worth my money or should I spend that extra to buy a decent car with decent customer service etc etc!!

I’ve actually been tossing the 2026 - 2027 bmw ix3 50

800km range heaps of grunt 800v platform ..

The new i3 m sedan looks like a good car to ..

Over price bmw maybe but maybe the extra spent may offer better piece of mind !!!

Thanks, not too bothered by mine, it is minor and kind of in the nit picking catagory of annoyance.
Love the car and would 100% buy another MG in future.
Also considering Pilot Sport 5's at some point.
