Today I was toggling between the various driving modes, in the mean time on screen checking which wheels were powered. I ended in Sport mode again. When I had to slow down for the next crossing the car was regenerative braking, but not enough to halt in time. It also felt like the regenerative braking suddenly stopped. When I pushed the brake pedal with normal force nothing much happened and I had to apply a lot more pressure to get the car to stop. Five minutes later it happened again, just before I was back home. It felt like the snow mode kicked in or similar.
Anyway, back home, I checked the braking fluid, just to be sure. I also had new tyres fitted yesterday. Nothing reported by the car.
Could this be some kind of software glitch ?

It's not a glitch, that's how sport mode is programmed in MG4.
If you need full regen potential you need to keep it in normal or eco.

I've only used Sport mode once by accident/ignorance, didn't know how to turn it off or how I got there. The acceleration and steering were more than I'd expected as far as response goes, but the battery % dropped like I'd put a hole in the tank, it used 20% from full in the stretch I did with 7% yesterday ...... great for impressing new folk to a poverty pack model EV, but not for use far from home where I can plug it back in to recharge :ROFLMAO:

When you toggle through driving modes SNOW mode will set the regen to 1, it may be that this did not change back to 3 when you then moved through the other modes to get back to SPORT. Just something to check.

I noticed indeed that some of the settings are not reversed when toggling through the modes. For instance One-Pedal is not restored when you leave snow mode.

When I approached the crossing was slowing down normally via regeneration; then suddenly the regeneration stopped completely and I sped towards the crossing (well, it felt like that). then I needed to use the brakes quite firmly. It happended a couple of times over the last few days, but not consistently. I'm trying to get hold of my MG dealer now.

In my experience you can use one-pedal in Sport mode and it regenerates just as much as in Normal mode. In snow mode you are right: there is hardly any regeneration and one-pedal is not available

It also turns one-pedal driving off and leaves it off. That can catch you out if you're used to the car holding itself in place when you release the brake.
As far as issues with the car not slowing properly, it's happened to me a couple of times. I put it down to dirt, rust or a film of water on the disks. One proper clean with a bit of braking effort and it's always been fine for the rest of the journey. I don't think the pads are the best in the world...
