I have purchased a 2nd hand 22 plate MG5 (pre facelift). I'm struggling to work out how to charge the car whilst keeping the heating on in the car. I am only aware of being able to turn the heating on by pressing the start button, but as soon as the start button is pressed the charging seems to stop. This was specifically AC 7kW charger, someone on a different forum mentioned they could do it with DC rapid charging, is there a difference?

Anyone know if there's a specific order I should be using or another way to turn on heating without stopping the charging?

Hi, are you putting the car in ready mode with the green light on?
Can you get the radio to work and does the fan run but no real heat ?

Putting the car in ready mode allows the heater to work but it stops the charging.

I can't get my FL to do it. The car doesn't seem to want the HV turned on while it's charging. My guess would be that the safety implications were considered to be too difficult to bother with.

That's a shame, I haven't tried again since but it sounds like I won't have any more luck.

When I get to a rapid charger with 3 -8% of SOC after long drive early in the mornings, I set my alarm for 40 mins, put the chair back and heater down low or midway, and go to sleep. Wake up at 80-90% ! Happy days.

Interesting, I wonder if it is only AC charging that interferes with the heating?

The online instruction manual (page 130) says "DO NOT attempt to switch the vehicle power system to READY during charging"

It does indeed, but who reads manuals?

In order for the heating to work the car needs to be READY, same applies to access the Energy Management tab in FL models, (manually start/stop the charging process)?
