Mate of mine went to order a LR today and was told they have stopped making them. They didn't mention that there was an updated version coming. ?

Probably not entirely inaccurate.
They will have almost certainly finished the primary construction of RHD 5s. They've got a stockpile awaiting components before shipping. They'll be running that down before they announce the RHD variant of the facelift model.
Depending on how what specs are in the stockpile there's a possibility they're not taking orders for certain model/colour combos. But l suspect they have enough stock to keep fulfilling orders for at least a year so they can announce face-lift next march.
