Hi all I just read the thread where members were posting that they haven't seen that many MG5 about. Got me thinking do we need a way of identifying each other when passing? Maybe not a secret society handshake, but a visual signal that we can give to other MGEV users (hopefully community members), when seeing each other on the road? Bit of fun to break up any boring journeys? Do we want one........what would it be? How about a simple thumbs up?

I do thumbs up already

Love it but would the roof bars be up to the drag loading LOL.

I often wonder if we need some sort of KERS warning too "If you can read this you are too close. No brake lights with KERS braking! Or a more punchy/funny option.

This could be a really funny thread if we get creative....what else do other road users need to know about we MGEV drivers LOL We all need a laugh.

I already wave to other ZS EV's I pass. So far about 1 in 5 wave back happily, the others tend to look confused, probably wondering why I'm waving at them. The vast majority of all car users aren't on forums or groups and don't care less about community...

Same here😀. I usually give a flash of the headlights once I have a) identified an MG and b) seen a green flash on the number plate. So far no one has acknowledged me😕

You need a 1970s sun strip across the top of the windscreen. Stencilled according to model and #teamcolour - where’s our man who does this?

Are there any screen stickers and other car merchandise available relating to this forum? Perhaps an opportunity to sell some to members?

Well, MX5 (my wife's car !!) drivers are very chummy, and about 75% or more will acknowledge with a little wave - sometimes more extravagantly. Maybe the MX5 is a bit more specialised and club orientated than the MG5 though? As I pointed out in another thread, the front end of the MG5 looks like so many SUV front ends (oops was that blasphemy?) especially the VW T-Roc that you actually have to concentrate quite hard to be sure of a positive ID by which time it has almost passed by. I have always given a wave when there has been sufficient recognition time but this could be why not that many return an acknowledgement. But I'm all in favour of the concept and will continue to acknowledge similar vehicles. They don't all have a "green plate" either which doesn't help.

I won't wave to anyone I don't know in a car. It just feels... weird. Now on a bike, different matter, always gave the nod to others and I guess about 80% returned it.

I flash my lights to other ZS EV drivers and put my thumb up and 50% of people respond in kind.
Not a bad hit rate! I'm an MG5 driver and they are all EVs. How do you know that a particular ZS is electric if it doesn't have the green number plate strip? Or is the ZS only available as electric also?

I think the EV's don't have front fog lights.

Lots of ICE ZS’s around. By the time I see the fog lights, the car is long gone.

The fool proof way of identifying a ZS EV is the radar on the front bumper.
And obviously any in Pimlico Blue (I see mainly Pimlico and Dynamic Red)
