MGS5 Infotainment Dark Mode

Hi my infotainment unit does not go to dark mode automatically when you turn on lights is this normal if not how can you change it

Normal, turn on the lights go into settings change the display to dark mode. The car will remember this and change the display to dark when the headlights next turn on.

I’m not sure that this is correct.

You can set different screen brightness levels for lights on and off, but it won’t switch between light and dark mode.

I’ve also tried various voice commands like “dark theme” and “dark mode” but they don’t enable dark theme and just dim the screen slightly.

The best I could do was use the voice command “show settings” and then tap the dark theme option.

I am okay with dark tbh, the bright mode is too bright for me.

I am mildly irritated by Google Maps, which has it's own Light and Dark mode and a setting for Automatic, which also doesn't seem to work.

This is one of the few aspects of the car they haven't got right. I'd prefer the ability to darken the light mode to a nighttime tolerable level. A palette change would probably also help.

Old thread i know but could be useful info.

It looks like MG hasn’t quite conformed to apple carplay rules.
Light & dark mode seems to be done via the infotainments theme selection instead of the cars headlight status, which currently only dims the screen.

On the MG 4 there was an auto function ( which didn't always work TBH) Seems the only option here is light or dark . I've set AA maps and waze to auto but that doesn't help
