I want to get a UK MGS5 owners-only snapshot of overall satisfaction with MG, based on the whole experience:
  • The car itself (build quality, reliability, software and updates) - largely SAIC (China)
  • MG UK (customer support, parts and warranty handling where applicable)
  • Your dealer(s) (sales experience, delivery issues, service department, warranty work and communication)
Please vote for the ONE option that best reflects your overall experience so far.

How to choose an option:
  • Very satisfied / Satisfied: You would happily buy MG again based on your experience
  • Neutral: Some positives and negatives, but it averages out
  • Dissatisfied / Very dissatisfied: Issues or poor support have left you unhappy with the brand
If you want to add context, please reply with:
  • Model year and trim
  • Rough mileage
  • Main issues (if any)
  • Whether problems were resolved and by who (SAIC/software, MG UK, or dealer)
This is not about one-off niggles - it’s about overall brand satisfaction based on the combined ownership and support experience.

All leased company cars - MG5 Trophy x 2 (21 and 72 reg), Current MG4 Trophy? x 1(24 reg) over a period of 5 years. Totalling over 200k miles.
Personal car is MGS5 no issues so far, I bought it knowing MGs very well and happy with the service I'd had to date.

Had only one poor experience caused mostly by the inexperience of the technician in the early days of my first MG5, which was sorted quickly once properly diagnosed. Car was in the garage for many weeks though. Other issues have been sorted quickly and courteusly.

MG4 is about to go in to the dealer because it's stopped charging, hoping it's just a fuse.

The Dealer has been generally very good if a little keen on over charging for items needing replaced during services. They handle MG, Nissan, KIA and Suzuki from the same premises, have done for many years which I guess is a credit to them. They're also not too keen on giving the discounts that you see elsewhere, which is why I travelled 160 miles to buy my MGS5.

S5. Overall good. Drives well, range is good, quiet. One pedal mode stays on. Turning off annoyances is a couple of taps. Autopilot works very well, doesn't panic brake and taking over is smooth.

Good charging speed. App works reasonably well, seems better than average. 12V battery has proven solid, even with a parking mode hardwired dashcam.

Paint is a bit thin. Sometimes rolls backwards when you brake hard.

Android Auto wireless has audio drop out problems, and the wireless charging makes my phone very hot. A navigation icon for AA would be really useful.

The main issue is that the driver's seat is uncomfortable, and the seatbelt hurts my shoulder. I got a seat pad that helps but still isn't as nice as other cars. The seatbelt I'm still working on, I've ordered a couple of clips to try.

MGS5 Trophy.

Overall I’m pretty happy. I’ve done about 8.8k miles and no problems so far.

I’ve done several long distance trips and the car handles it fine and drives well, and gets a decent range for the battery size.

I’ve had no reason to return to the dealer since the day i bought the car, so can’t comment on this aspect.

I do have some minor niggles with the infotainment system, eg sometimes the radio comes on when I start the car, other times it doesn’t. It’s probably fixable with a software update.

Overall, for a budget car, I’m pretty pleased with it.

I don't do a lot of miles and mainly use it for taking the dogs to the park or visiting friends.

I had one of the early MG4s previously with the usual faults (passenger door lock button failing, not charging on AC etc.) but apart from phone calls dropping out after a couple of minutes I've had no problems with the MGS5. I'm hoping a software fix for that will be available when it goes in for its first service.

I only moved from the MG4 because arthritic knees meant I struggled to get in and out and I'm glad I took a chance on the MGS5

I love my MGS5 trophy . A huge step up from my previous MG4 . Unlike that car it's not been back to the dealer once having done just over 4k miles .It looks good drives beautifully and is well equipped .
only issue is the well known telephony problem which I hope will be solved with a software update

Oh, well when I get the first service on mine, one of the buttons is a bit sticky. Sometimes it gets stuck pressed in. It's not bad enough that I'll go to the dealer specially to get it sorted out.

Actually, I am between happy and satisfied. I had a Volvo XC40 Recharge before and the MGS5 is a huge step-up. The minor, but annoying issues are:
  • Auto dim is completely hit-and-miss
  • Breaks are working fine but even after 10K still make noise
  • The supplied GPS has quirks with regard to speed limits (nothing to do with camera)

Mostly satisfied
Niggles: speed recognition hit and miss; no height adjustment on passenger seat; seat belt not female friendly (no up down adjustment); speed warning annoying.
First service cost variable between garages from £160 up to £200; should have a common set fee across garages.

Had My MGS5 Trophy just over a month loving it,

Had a ZS EV Connect Trophy for just over a Year never missed a beat had good service from the dealer

Loving the S5 with the following niggles

1. sometimes the pilot settings don't all apply when recalling the settings.

2. foot operation of tailgate a bit hit ot miss may be me not hitting the right spot but even franticly waggling my foot with both arms full doesn’t always work

Still finding my way around the settings
