I'm looking for where MSD Manual Service Disconnect is located. If anyone knows, let me know.

I seem to remember the diagram showing the location was from an oblique angle which made it look like it was near the power steering. Eventually decided it was the bright connector clipped to the battery tray.

I ought to add I only looked out of curiosity and not totally sure I found the right bit.

Probably not sensible for me to have done this, but on the yellow plug in the 1st picture I slid the red tab up which allowed me to pull the plug off.

In the car, the screen showed a message as in the 3rd picture. Is that what you wanted?

It all went back to normal when reconnected without needing any resets etc.

I need that yellow plug (MSD) from the second picture DixieTGS - for my car - unfortunately someone took it out and lost it - I'm terribly worried now - do you know where I can buy it?

Is it part number 10519982?

Its just a jumper, shorting out those two wires going into the connector. You could likely short it out with anything and it would work.

Did you use 1kV class 0 gloves to pull it out?

I was unsure about pulling it out in case it caused warnings etc which might need clearing.

That small MSD (Manual Service Disconnect) plug is on a 12V circuit looped through various connectors most likely. Whenever any plug on that loop begins to be removed, the HV relay(s) disconnect. So if an HV plug is pulled inadvertently at any time it should not have exposed 400V by the time the HV plug is fully removed.

An MSD plug is the proper way to ensure the 400V is disabled and may be a large high voltage plug on some vehicles. Ideally it is in an accessible location so that roadside assistance can get to it if needed.

If it was 400V on the MG4 I would hope it would have very rugged wires to it, and be coloured orange.

the one on mine is orange and accessible from under car ,under a cover ,.
its joined in to the battery under car

It sounds like a high voltage one. I wouldn't touch with a barge pole unless you have the proper manuals, circuit diagrams, instruction etc. You could see if someone on the ZS forum has anything useful.

ive managed to get the new door on and closed , so will be leaving the welding to the bodyshop . so wont be touching it .
