Ncap fail for mg3 hybrid

How come the driver's seat fastening issue wasn't highlighted in the 2024 MG3 hybrid crash test, even though it received 3 stars?

In the 2025 crash test (4 stars and rotating seat), they used a standard MG3, NOT a hybrid.
The test was not repeated with another vehicle.

The fact that MG are implementing a fix (for new vehicles only!) suggests this is more than a one off failure and that some sort of redesign or strengthening is indeed required.

While in the opening credits, the image is only of the MG3.
On the MG website, the differences are clear.
The person who compiled the "specs" reported: MG 3 Hybrid, 1.5 HEV, left-hand drive, but there's no proof.

For cost reasons, a base version of the model should be tested (so, as per the images in the opening credits, a standard MG).
The only certainty is that they are base models, with non-heated seats.

Hi you will find whether it was a hybrid or non hybrid doesn't matter it's the same seat mechanism in all models so all cars would need modified up till September models, because MG is saying October cars will have the modifications

All I can say it obviously didn't break then ? What test? was it the euro NCAP or some other test ? The Euro NCAP that was done this year it failed on the mechanism the dummy was in the left hand seat .page 9 of this thread , the main concern is MG is in Denial at the moment hence why politicians in Australia are getting involved with this serious issue. me personally I wasn't prepared to put my safety and wife's at risk so mg3 has gone now have a new MG zs hybrid and in my opinion a far superior vehicle in my opinion that is . Stay SAFE.

All it needs is one to break to identify an issue, which there obviously is why else are they fixing it on new cars

Ah, I just realised euroncap and ancap are sister organisations so their ratings are based on the same results, rather than 2 different tests replicating the issue - d'oh.

Has there been any updated info from MG or anyones dealers, as mine has heard nothing, STILL, and my second email to MG two weeks ago remains unanswered...

I feel MG after care are hoping the problem will go away Citroen last month put a no drive issue voluntarily on the new C3 for the brake pedal they are repairing customers cars straight away and giving them loan cars MG are showing a total no interest in their customers the dealership no nothing MG aren't talking to them

Citroen really had no choice, it was do it or be forced to do it, so they got in first, which is great, they are being proactive and sorting it out as quick as they can, their airbag issue is a strange one, as the Takarta airbags have been an issue for MANY years, and millions and millions of airbags were affected, Ford, BMW and most other brands at some point have been dealing with that fall out. I am unsure as to how Stellantis did not realise that they were using Takarta bags until this late in the day.. The airbag company went bust years ago over this.

MG UK are a complete joke that actually hamper the good dealers out there.
The dealers can't do any work at all to a car without getting their sign off.
Wait till there are issues with the IM range it's one thing having poor service with a budget car it's another with a car that is wanting to place itself in a more prestige market.

I agree Len about MG UK i used to deal with a MG dealership which had sold MGs since 1945, when MG closed in 2005 they started to stock Chinese MGs, just over 12 months ago they had to drop the MG franchise because MG UK wanted them to increase the amount of cars they could store on site and sell, no problem was to much for this dealership, MG obviously wanted bigger dealerships and now they seem to have lost that personal aftercare, I've been offered more in part exchange by a citroen dealership for my 3000 miles MG3 then MG offered me, I've complained about this seat problem to my dealership and MG and got the same response the MG3 still has a 4 star rating, well unfortunately this isn't good enough so after 20 years of MGs it's time to move on

It's a shocking response "it's still got a 4 star rating" up there with a few other cracking MG responses to issues:

"It's a characteristic"

"Don't get in touch with us, contact your dealer we just sell them the cars!"
