Based on a Roewe RX5 with the possibility of an EV model, but I don't know if that's for the UK market.

Sadly, there's not going to be a full EV model.

And it looks like it has the same engine and box that the current HS has, which the motoring press are critical of.

I like the look of the New HS, but more surprised they haven't given us a Marvel R in the UK.

It's a nice looking car, but it's not a good car at all.

It is not the same engine and gearbox, it is an all new generation of engine, just with the same configuration of a 4 cylinder 1.5 turbo and 7speed dct

The current Marvel R will never come to the UK as they don't make it for RHD markets, however they have said when the Marvel R gets replaced, we will get the replacement here in the UK

Just read on Autocar or Auto Express that the new ZS EV will be based on the MG4 and a bigger brother will be spawned from it (they will both be built on the Modular Scalable Platform). The bigger brother of the MG4-based ZS EV apparently will replace the Marvel R.

According to the writer, both are due in 2025.

Yes, there apparently will be two versions of the ZS replacement available:

• Petrol (based on ICE platform from Roewe)
• EV (based on MSP platform)

The cars won't necessarily look alike and may or may not use the same naming (will likely vary in different markets), anyone's guess if they continue with 'ZS'.

There's a lot of new MGs due in 2025.

Yes, I shall eagerly await them. I love the MG4 and one niggle we knew about and tried to live with was the small boot. But another has reared its head and will get more annoying as time goes on: it's a bit awkward to get in and out.

So, something based on the 4 that has a bigger boot and is a little higher off the road would be good.
