New MG HS self charging hybrid 2025

Hi Guys, I love the HS plug in, but I want a new self charging HS, I've heard a rumour that MG will be bringing one out early in 2025, is this true and if so which month?

Self charging is marketing hype started by Toyota. Generating electricity from an Internal Combustion Engine is one of the most expensive ways to do it. Missing out the Plug In aspect that makes a huge difference in running costs. A self charging hybrid offers no real advantage, it has all of the extra weight to carry and cannot get a charge at low cost. Avoid like the plague.

Just one thing from the 1st April 25 you could be paying up to £500 road tax a year on that vehicle. Do not know the CO2 emissions but can look this up also if over £40;000 there is a £451 tax from the 2nd year to 5th year so do check this up.

The UK dealers have demonstrators, I test drove it last week, very nice but no where near as fun or quick as my MG3 hybrid+. Huge car yet surprisingly small boot space to what you would expect, must be the batteries taking up the room. Also, I'm quite tall and sit further back from the steering wheel than most and I found that the drivers wing mirror wouldn't adjust far enough out, that alone means I couldn't buy one.

What car are you talking about? We dealers still have no official information on a HS Self Charging Hybrid introduction date as of yet, let alone demonstrators, all we know is that there is one coming next year, but no idea when!

So it was either the MG3 hybrid, the MG ZS Hybrid or the MG HS Plug-In Hybrid, there is no MG HS Self Charging hybrid at all - bear in mind I am a dealer myself

if it was a HS that you drove then 100% it would of been the PHEV

You're right it was a PHEV! they totally misled me, which is par for the course, when we went to test drive the MG3 which we bought in September they had booked an MG4 for us. They are not a good dealer, I'm still waiting 3 weeks later for investigating a brake regeneration problem, they blame MG technical, I love the car but as a dealer you will know that sales sell the first vehicle and service sells the second, in this case neither of them will for me. All academic really as I have already decided that the HS is not for me

Would I be correct in presuming that the HS self-charging hybrid, when it does arrive will have a larger boot than the PHEV as it will probably have its smaller batteries placed under the rear seat, and it will also be that bit lighter as a result?

fair enough, lots of sales people are not clued up on the models enough, the ZS hybrid might be a good option for you?

As far as we know, the boot should be the same size, as one of the major points of the new model HS is that both the Petrol and PHEV models have the same boot capacity, which is uncommon for PHEVS. Until we have official confirmation of the details, it's hard to say.
