Do not touch anything once you have pressed the start button until you hear the bong and the needle on the power dial settles at zero.

I generally get in the car, foot on the brake, start, then I faff about with connecting my phone up, putting my belt on etc. It's akin to an ICE vehicle, you don't just crank it and drive you give it a few at least few seconds to settle/get the oil round before driving off, not that I don't regularly see those jump in a cold car and are flooring it up the road within 5 seconds.
