News on delivery of first Batch of IM6

Long waits for brand new just-launched cars are not uncommon across the industry. It's unfortunate you'll likely have to wait a long time.

It probably shows the cars have been more popular than MG ever thought they would be over here.

New to the forum

I ordered a LR IM6 black with grey interior through my works salary sacrifice (Ayvens) on 10/10.

They have decided to source the car through Lookers for some reason despite me having another MG dealership only a mile away.

Saw posts here and on Facebook about people receiving there vehicle already so thought I'd chase. Lookers contacted MG vehicle operations and the reply they got back was "This is awaiting build and will be a a minimum of 14 weeks" they also added "please keep in mind we currently have over 70 similar shortages order for this spec due to demand"

It's looking very much like it's going to be around 6 months from the point of order! Leaves me in a bit of a situation as I need to sell my present vehicle early March as the PCP ends in mid March.

This seems a ridiculous wait and short sighted of MG on the release of a brand new model.

Welcome to the forum @Dekka, 6 months does seem a long wait, but I bet it's not far off the average waiting time for a new car.

Looks like they underestimated demand. MG UK didn't pre-order enough. Also there is a huge promo on MG itself with the MG6 being launched etc. So maybe they didn't want to clash sales numbers. But of course they are different price segments. Or maybe IM is just overwhelmed on international orders.

Uh oh... As someone who has also salary sacrificed a LR IM6 with grey interior, this isn't ideal!

I ordered 4th October and I am being told by Vertu the vehicle is expected in February. Wonder what's going on there then and if that is actually realistic...

My IM6 order is also through the Ayvens salsac scheme, placed early Nov and they have told me Feb, but I don't have any specifics (e.g. no info on UK dealer etc.) - starting to think that date might be fictional

I've been told the same by vertu although he also mentioned it still doesn't have a build slot so Feb is just a guess

I called Ayvens this afternoon. They confirmed an order has been placed with Norton Way (hadn't heard of them before, seems it's a multi badge car dealership). I called them to ask about the status of the order. They confirmed it has been placed but no build date. This is all starting to sound familiar isn't it. They said the Feb delivery was probably accurate but that I should call back in January. Oh dear

I ordered mine via Octopus EV (sal sac too) and was advised to get my order in ASAP for a switch date in June next year.

I know from my MG4 order 3 years ago that MG aren't the quickest with their new cars. So we'll see.

Very much fitting with the 16 week guidance date given by my dealer. I ordered around the same time. So hopefully will be the same batch, on the same boat!
