Night time Screen dimming

There seem to be no difference between the
software of older model cars and new model car.
There seems to be no auto dimming of the screen at night a very bad safety issue!
Why is this?
It is a real nuisance!
This is the only thing which gets my goat with this car since I bought it in May

As mentioned on another thread, to set the night time level turn on your headlights and set your preferred screen brightness. Now when your headlights come on the screen will change to the level you have set.

If that is still too bright swipe down from the top of the centre screen and turn the screen off.

It's a shame it can't switch to dark mode when the headlights come on, but if you use Android Auto with Google Maps that part will go into dark mode.

As the pervious threads have said dimming is still not the answer as the screen is still too bright. Surely the screen should to the black mode.

Yes....that's what am doing now, still, a 'fix' that MG need to address I think in my opinion

I find that having the screen in light mode but minimum brightness is okay.

That's still too bright for me. A different palette would probably help.

I understand some will find the light theme too bright for night time lighting.
It certainly is if left unadjusted from the default settings.
I've set the brightness to zero for when the lights come on - it's just about ok for me!
I'm in agreement with other voices here - dark theme for night time is the ultimate switch that should happen automatically and should be 'set-able' in the same way the brightness is programmable already.

Yes, but have you seen the Sat Nav in dark mode? Almost unreadable!!! Mind you, I haven't looked again since the test drive, so may try Dark Mode again now I have my S5....

There isn't an auto option on the MGS5.

I know what you mean about the sat nav in dark mode, but if you put in a destination the route is completely readable.

Tried the suggestions and yes it works. And yes, i do hope there's an update that changes the theme based on the light levels. I personally love both the light and dark themes.

Which screen?

Centre screen - swipe down and select Screen Brightness.
Driver's display - select menu on r/h joystick and scroll left/right to Screen Brightness.
