No Electronic parking brake

My 1 year old Marvel R is frought with problems. The car keeps doing a TOTAL SHUTDOWN. when it does this, nothing on the car will work, including the parking brake.This seems very dangerous and illegal not to have a working parking break. If I stop on a hill, I cannot exit the vehicle. On a motorway this could be a disaster waiting to happen. I carry chocks in the car now for when it happens again. On top of that there are many other issues. I keep getting told by my dealer that needs a software update, but this is happening every 6 weeks. I wonder where I stand legally as the vehicle can at times be not road legal?

I did visit several other car dealerships to trade it in, but they all said that as they cannot get software from MG, that they will not touch them. It looks like I am stuck with MG...

It occurs to me that there is a problem with the car's 12V battery now and it makes the car quiet. Admittedly, it's only a year old car, but...

Yep I go along with videoantti.
Have the 12 volt battery tested fully. It needs to be load tested and also checked to see if it has any internal faults. Batteries can develop faults internally in the connectors that join the plates. Cracks in the connectors can open up and close causing intermittent faults in the batteries.
Also check that the fuses in the fuse box are all good too. They too can have hairline cracks and still work most of the time.

My 12V battery had a connector not seated properly so it was a disaster waiting to happen. I caught it a few months after getting the car, pulled had by hand and it came off.
