No sound on Apple Maps

I use Apple Car Play for maps on my 2025 HS PHEV Trophy, as it’s much better than the MG satnav. However, if I just turn on Apple Maps on my iPhone, it speaks its directions to me, but if I plug it into the Car Play socket, no sounds are forthcoming, despite the speaker icon definitely being turned on. Any suggestions ?

I, too, use Apple Car Play all the time for navigation and other functions, with it plugged into the lefthand USB socket. It's always worked fine for me, including the volume settings. I presume you've checked the volume levels in the 'settings' menu?
