How do you rate the sound system?

My car is the Trophy spec which I believe has a slightly different speaker set up to the other spec.

I find there is way too much treble. I have used the equaliser to reduce the treble by 5db and I also use the equaliser in my USB Audio Pro app on my phone to reduce it even more.

I think this is the reason the indictator sound it so intrusive - the indicators use the speakers and the tweeter is producing too much volume.

Also I turned the loudness equalisation off and it sounds better with that off.

Yes I agree that there is too much treble, but also too much bass. Or, to put it another way, midrange is too low!. However, I have found that (after owning the car for approx 3 months) I have got used to it, and it does not annoy me.
  • However, most of what I listen to are podcasts and audiobooks (i.e. speech) rather than music, so therefore I'm not that fussy about musical perfection
Personally, I do not find the loudness of the indicators (or bings and bongs) too intrusive. They sound at about the correct level for my ears. I have my 'Vehicle Information Tone' set to 2 which (as you know via this thread first day with HS PHEV) is the lowest:

I also have the Trophy PHEV. I have got used to the sound system, and although not exceptional, I have learned to accept it as O.K.

What I find more irritating is the playback from a USB memory stick.

What system defaults to playing music tracks in song title order?

ie All song titles starting with “A” then B, C,…..etc ending up with any titles beginning with “Z”.

At least that is how it works in my car. I contacted MG motors UK to find out if there was a fix with a software update. They didn’t know. Suggested contacting the dealership, but I think I know how that will turn out.😖

@BPM06 - I agree that the most irritating thing is the MP3 playback from USB, specifically trying to play an album in order.
  • In theory, the instructions here are supposed to be a workaround: USB MUSIC & FOLDERS
  • However, that was a huge amount of work for me to do, so I just did some simpler re-tagging of my MP3 files ( using using the Windows application "Mp3tag") to ensure that all my car's MP3s had the correct album name, track number and (I think crucially) the name of the track was preceded by the track number (for example "02.Song_Two" or whatever)
The upshot is:
  • I can now play an album successfully in order, if I start at track 1
  • However, if I switch off the car and then switch on the car the next day, then it will not resume the album in order
    • For example, if I was listening to track 05 of an album, then (the next day) it will resume playing that track, but when it has finished it will then play track 05 of EVERY album in turn, before then changing to track 06 of EVERY album in turn.
I'm sure many would find that frustrating, but I try to look on the bright side of things, and see it as an opportunity to listen to some tracks that I rarely play :).

I don't use a USB stick, I store music one my phone and use the USB Audio Pro app. That will solve your issues with track order and allow you more EQ options as it has 10 band EQ and the option to do parametric EQ.

But if you don't use an app like USB Audio Pro I recommend turning the treble down in volume settings so that the treble sounds natural and not ear piercing.
