I guess it was inevitable...
Octopus have just emailed to say they are reducing our solar export rates from 15p to 12p per kWh on the 1st of March.
Makes sense really. As more solar is connected to the grid the value of generation during the middle of the day will drop.
Already the wholesale cost is sometimes negative on sunny and windy days and that will only happen more and more.
What this means is that batteries become more valuable, whether your car or connected to your house. Also electric hot water heating (immersion heaters, heat pumps).
Agile Export tariff and Intelligent Flux (for people with some kinds of battery) will offer higher rates, but not during the middle of the day.
