Today marks 12 months of EV ownership for me, I bought the X-Power a year ago today, at 8 months old, and 1300 miles on the clock, and it's been a real pleasure, such a comfortable, smooth, quiet, and effortless drive, obviously made even better with the massive amount of power available with the X-Power, and this first year has confirmed my feeling that I definitely don't ever want to go back to a noisy, smelly, inefficient fossil fuel burner.
I've only made a few minor changes/modifications to the car since I got it, the previous owner had done the black MG badge modification, but I've done a modification to the phone charger shelf - Charger Shelf Mod.
I've also fitted mudflaps, and painted the front and rear brake discs, (which will probably be an annual ritual for me) - Brake Discs Painted.
And I've added the warning light to show me when my brake lights are on while using regenerative braking - Brake Light Mod.
The car has only been to an MG Dealer once, and that was for it's first service, which cost a mere £123.60.
I've just insured it for it's second year, which has cost me a very pleasing £322.07 for the year.
We have only done 2480 miles in the car's first 12 months, and we're not on a home EV tariff, so in this first year I have used £229.50 of electricity for charging, which works out at 9 pence per mile, but thanks to my energy company's 'Sunday Saver' scheme, it's only cost me £53 of electricity for the whole year, the rest (£176.50) was free, so that's just over 2 pence per mile.
The only downside is that when we get to March next year, I'm going to have start paying VED, but at least I've had my first 15 months free.
So onwards to my second year, and hopefully many more in the MG4 X-Power.
