On BBC 6 music Craig Charles does a feature where the listeners get to vote on a cover vs. original of a song. A variation is two different songs with the same name (either/or) and another more tenuous one is two songs on the same theme.

It's a good idea!

I didn't remember the name of the song, but the riff was immediately familiar.

A lot of Ska tracks were actually covers.
