"Please focus on driving".

I’ve gotten used to being asked to concentrate when I laugh, which makes me grin and so the cycle goes. It doesn’t pop up to warn me very often really so I’ve not looked to switch it off. Same with the speed reminder, I got the odd false warning but so few it isn’t a problem for me.

This is driving me absolutely crazy. The system feels like having an over-caffeinated driving instructor in the passenger seat yelling at me for things I haven’t done. I can be sitting bolt upright, eyes dead ahead, both hands perfectly placed on the wheel, and it still goes off like I’m texting on my phone while juggling a latte in the other hand, turning around to yell at the kids.

"Please focus on driving" it says to me, forcing me to fumble around in MG Pilot to turn the damn thing off!!

Then there is the "Don't drive while fatigued" because you had to cross the centre line to get past a parked car..
over-caffeinated driving instructor 🤣 Brilliant

Ah, you can go to mgpilot and turn off all the stuff you don't want, then long press the custom button on screen to save it. Next time you drive you only have to tap the mgpilot button to activate/deactivate your settings.

what is the custom button, please?

Apologies for my density, but what are the "custom button" and "MGPilot button"

The focus on driving thing drives me mad. I was looking straight ahead earlier, both hands on the wheel and it kept happening

Yes, I don't understand this function at all. It ONLY seems to activate when I am driving with 100% attention, and then it is more dangerous driving whilst trying to turn it off!

People who wear glasses 🤓 especially those who have the reactive lenses fitted, appear to be affected the most.
A relative has the Volvo 40 Coupe EV and he rang his dealer to complain about his alert going off all of the time, the service department asked him if he wears glasses for diving and do they have the reactive lenses ( which he does ) and told him it’s a common complaint.
He tried using his previous glasses which has no reactive lenses fitted and it was a lot better.
I think you can turn it off completely in the head unit settings, or there is an option to just turn off the bonging, this will leave the “coffee cup” yellow warning flagging up, but will stop the annoying repetitive bonging 🤣. I remember once, we were travelling along a dual carriageway and I yawned, the thing started bonging and it would not stop.
It went on for what seemed like forever.
My wife asking me to “turn the blooding thing off, it’s giving me a headache” !.
We reached our junction to leave the carriageway and then reduced speed to join a small roundabout, as soon as the car reduced to a snail pace, the bonging stopped.
The car obviously though we where taking its advise and stopping for a coffee 🤣.
We joined the roundabout and continued our trip without any more warnings.
It’s a good safety feature, but it’s very over sensitive and makes absolutely no allowance for even a single issue it detects.

I say button it's not, it's an icon. To engage MGPilot swipe down on the screen and the icon should be at the top right of the screen. If you have been to the MG pilot screen and made all your selections, this will activate your preferences.
